Could this Gospel message be that random and sentimental sermon we listen to every time when believers fellowship?
As a young believer many times, I had sat down to ponder what the gospel was all about, this gospel message which everybody, every preacher and outreach teams talked about, I even resolved that my local church was the only church that preached the gospel message. Thinking about those good old days I could only blame ignorance and failure to acquire knowledge according to scripture.
I pray as we read further that the eyes of our understanding are enlightened and our hearts are open to learning.
WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? The gospel is not just any random message from the Bible, but a specific message, this message is centred on a personality named JESUS CHRIST AND HIS COMING KINGDOM. All scriptures were written concerning him, the Bible from the old testament to the new testament referred to and talked about the person JESUS. let’s examine Romans1vs15-17,1Corinthians1vs17-18
Romans1verse16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Paul called it the gospel of Christ which also refers to the Word of Truth, Word of Faith, Message of the cross and the Message of Reconciliation.
“THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST IS THE ONLY MESSAGE THAT has THE ABILITY TO SAVE A SOUL”
It may displease you to know that messages or sermon or exhortation that is not centred on Christ more specifically his death, burial and resurrection have no power to save anybody. The Gospel talks of “believing” to get saved.
WHAT DO WE BELIEVE, WHO DO WE BELIEVE ?-THE GOSPEL SPEAKS OF CHRIST IN WHOM WE BELIEVE IN ODER TO GET SAVED Romans10vs14-17, Ephesians1vs12-13
Romans10vs14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
In whom speaks of the person Christ Ephesians1vs12:That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Ephesians1vs13 In whom ye also trusted, after that, ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise
It is no doubt that the gospel message is not in the shouting of Jesus name in every sermon but in the preaching of CHRIST AND HIS KINGDOM Acts8vs5,35
